about
(Portland, Maine) Initially written about her feelings of loss, depression, and isolation, singer Marion Earley’s lyrics eventually evolved into the desire to accept things as they are. Earley’s tender vocals in the beginning verses grow into a confident prowl along with a soaring, ear-worm chorus. Aided by Ryan Meier’s adept handling of the acoustic guitar, the result is a joyous contemporary folk tune on par with the likes of The Head and the Heart and The Lumineers. Same Blood was written by Marion Earley and Ryan Meier and recorded by Dan Cardinal at Dimension Sound Studios in Jamaica Plain, MA.
lyrics
Same Blood
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
A hundred miles I’ve gone to clear my dizzy head
Just to end up where I started
And countless times I’ve pleaded guilty to an absent-minded game of hide and seek
Thinking you won’t find me
Oo, oo
And I don’t have a specific place in mind, but I’d like to get away for a while
And I don’t want to be alone for fear that someone else will think that makes me theirs to hold
No I could never trust the wind to take me home
I could never trust the wind to take me home
Home, home, home
Home, home, home
Sometimes I think I’d die without love
Sometimes I don’t think that I can love at all
Would it be such a terrible thing to wonder if my time is best spent wondering
Has the sea gone dry, and with it drained the color from the sky
Has the sea gone dry, and with it drained the color from the sky
Now I know some things are well-intentioned miscommunication at best
And I know sometimes that’s a lie
But no matter how long I’ve waited for water
I won’t drink from a poisoned well
I can wait a little longer
Hey, hey
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
I don’t have blue eyes
And I don’t think we really look alike
But now I realize that what lives on the surface has no real purpose in this
The blood that I bleed still matches yours
The blood that I bleed still matches yours
